19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his first championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
